Dutch Seaweed Group (DSG) was founded in October 2020 and is located in Yerseke. Our company stands for healthy, sustainable, local seaweed, harvested from our own farm in the Easternscheldt. DSG controls the entire process from seed cultivation to processing. Within our short existence, DSG has already become one of the top 10 seaweed companies in Europe.
Integrating seaweed into daily life
At DSG we believe it is important to have more sustainable resources integrated into our daily lifes and reduce our footprint. Seaweed is an excellent addition to our diet because of its richness in essential minerals, omega 3 and 6, and taste enhancing properties. In addition it presents many health benefits and has many different applications in animal feed, biostimulant, nutraceutical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry.
Our product portfolio
Wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) is one of the best know seaweeds, typically applied in Asian cuisine. Our Dutch Wakame is cultivated in the clean waters of the Easternscheldt in the Netherlands where it grows abundantly. Wakame is nutritious as well as tasteful, famous for its umami taste with a hint of oyster, delicate and sweet. It contains high levels of essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, iodine and zinc, and vitamins A (beta-carotene), C, B1, B2 and B12. It can be applied in salads, soups, noodles and rice, but also as a salt replacement in bread or other dishes. Our Wakame is available in fresh frozen, as dried flakes, dried powder and frozen cubes.
Our Sugar Kelp or Royal Kombu (Saccharina latissima) is a nutrient rich brown seaweed which is cultivated in the Easternscheldt in the Netherlands. It has taste enhancing properties because of its umami with sweet and baconlike accents. It goes well with vegetables, soups and stews, and is rich in iodine, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium and vitamin K. It is also known to be useful in improving thyroid health, prevention of anemia, controlling diabetes and in weight management. We offer Royal kombu as fresh frozen product, dried flakes, powder and in frozen cubes.
Sea Lettuce (Ulva lactuca) is considered a super food. It is rich in dietary fibres, iron, calcium, zinc, iodine, protein and vitamins. Our Ulva is produced in clean controlled land-based conditions resulting in a high quality raw product, vegan & EU organic certified. Ulva has a unique umami flavour (taste enhancing) which emerges particularly in warm foods. Seaweed by nature is liquid-absorbing, so it blends beautifully with many recipes, providing a broad range of flavours. Depending on ingredients and the method of preparation (cold dishes, cooked, fried, roasted or baked) we can supply you with our Ulva in different forms such as freshly frozen leaves or as dried flakes & powder.
