MgCl₂ food hydrated magnesium chloride (99.0% pure) is a clear liquid, which can be used in a wide variety of food products and applications, such as texture, solids and taste improvement, salt reduction, and shelf-life extension. MgCl₂ food is used as a coagulant in tofu production, as electrolytes in sports drinks or to enrich food and beverages with magnesium. Magnesium chloride offers several similar properties as sodium chloride, without increasing the final products’ sodium content. Besides, a number of health claims is applicable. The product meets or exceeds the requirements of the current EU Food Additive Regulation (E511).
