Cluster Dextrinâ„¢, also called Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin (HBCD) is a new type of carbohydrate for sports nutrition. It is manufactured from corn starch utilising enzymatic reactions. It is highly soluble in water, and the solution is highly stable during storage.
- The sweetness of Cluster Dextrin is low compared with the sweetness of dextrins with a relatively high DE.
- Beverages combining Cluster Dextrin are characterised to contain highly concentrated carbohydrates and fast gastric emptying.Â
- Cluster Dextrin is especially suitable as a spray drying aid and also for oil water-soluble substances such as extracts of fruits and vegetables.Â
Application:
Cluster Dextrin can be used as a component of Sport Nutrition, as Ready-to-Mix (RTM), as Spray drying aid and to mask bitter off-notes of, for example, BCAA’s.
